Wow, Last night was a super amazing night! It came about because of some thoughts that I had over the summer. Lately I have been thinking a lot more seriously about going back home when I graduating and taking over the family farm with my brother. This being the case, it means that I will spend most of my life in the middle of nowhere. While I don't mind being in the middle of nowhere, there are a few things that I won't have if I move home. One of the main things I will not have is easy access to arts and cultural events.
That being the case, I found myself a few weeks ago walking through the HFAC (the fine arts building) looking at some of the posters for events that were coming up. I was looking to get tickets for Homecoming Spectacular, but some other upcoming events caught my eye.
One of these events was a show put on by an acapella group called Basix, out of Denmark. They are on their first tour of America and for some reason decided to stop at BYU. It looked interesting and so I bought some tickets...
Anyways, enough with the pre-ramble, on to the ramble!
So.. Last night was the show, and it was AMAZING! I haven't really been to many live acapella shows, but this one I think will stand out in my mind as the best. The songs were amazing, both the ones they covered, and their original songs. I think my all time favorite was "Angels" by Robbie Williams ("I'm loving angels instead.. and through it all.... she offers me protection, a lot of love and affection, whether I'm right or wrong.. and la la la la"). Many of their original pieces were instant favorites as well (wow, I just realized that I don't know how to describe musical events very well.. lol..). Their style varied from bass-heavy beats to wonderful 6 part vocals that were as clear something that is really clear and shiny. Wow. Anyways, check out their website for some samples of their music, or go buy it on iTunes...
Here are some pictures:
First, a picture of their last song, Purple Rain, a cover of Queen:

You are getting way good Eric! I think that makes sense....
