Sunrise from the Summit
Three years ago, while studying for a semester at the BYU Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies, I had the opportunity to get up at 1 or 2 in the morning and hike to the top of Mt. Horeb (also known as Mt. Sinai). While this might not be the exact same mountain spoken of in the Bible, it is the traditional site where Moses climbed and found the burning bush and recieved the Ten Commandments. It was an amazing experience to see the sun rise over the baren wasteland of the Sinai and think about the events that happened there so long ago. It was a very moving and spiritual experience for me.
